Aniimo Header

It doesn’t seem like too long ago that I shared some thoughts on Aniimo. Now we are just over two weeks away from its 16th September 2026 (23rd September for mobile players) release date! That really has come around quickly.

Aniimo is a game that is described as a next-generation creature-catching open-world RPG adventure. Set in the beautiful world with Idyll players, Twine with one-of-a-kind Aniimo found throughout the world and unlock brand new abilities. Explore the floating metropolis between the clouds, meet other Pathfinders and battle in exhilarating competitions.

What is Aniimo?

Aniimo is an upcoming free-to-play game that’s approaching the creature-catching game genre with a new next-generation outlook.

Players are known as Pathfinders and will choose and Twine with the various Aniimo. Learn their moves and abilities, collect them all and travel throughout the skies.

As you begin your journey in the world of Idyll, anyone Aniimo you meet can become your companion. Use Aniipods, set traps and time the catch to perfection.

Having previously mentioned Twining with Aniimo, this means that you can pretty much become any Aniimo that you collect on your journey. Use their skills and abilities to help solve puzzles, win battles, beat challenges and see the world from a different perspective.

The world of Idyll is expansive, thriving and full of beauty. The ideal location for capturing and Twining with Aniimo. Discover and learn more about them to help reach their full potential.

Idyll has a lot to offer and is always full of hidden surprises and unknowns. There is a PVEVP mode called ‘Egg Heist’ where you team up with others and take part in a real-time game where you are searching and battling in the Lost Isles.

Aniimo is perfect for those who want to play solo or with others. Take part in adventuring and battling or just want a more laid-back experience. The way you play is up to you.

While on your Pathfinder journey, players also have their own personal RV. Park at a campsite in the open world and connect with other players. You can also return to the homeland and plant crops, build and decorate and freely customise your space with Aniimo, turning it into a fun, cosy and immersive paradise.

There certainly appears to be plenty to see, do, learn and discover throughout a Pathfinders journey. What kind of Aniimo do you think you’ll find first? A cute and adorable looking one? Maybe one that looks scary and strong instead?

While the core of the pre-order bonuses on each platform are the same, there are some variances between the two. Looking at listings for both consoles.

The PlayStation edition of the pre-order bonuses contains a console-exclusive Fluffy Friend accessory. This is not available on other platforms.

PlayStation Store UK Pre-order Options

Xbox Store

The Microsoft Store pre-order includes a Doggo Dude accessory, which is an Xbox console exclusive item. This is not available on other platforms.

Microsoft Store US Pre-order Options

Outside of these exclusive items in the pre-orders, players can also unlock either an Advanced Companion Handbook or Collector’s Companion Handbook. These appear to act as a battle pass and will include additional unlockable items that can be used to help in-game and some cosmetic items.

At present, there doesn’t appear to be a Steam/Epic Games pre-order bonus or anything similar for mobile users.

Aniimo is already shaping up to be one of September’s most popular releases. With pre-registration rewards available on the game’s official website as well, there’s so much in store for players waiting to explore Idyll ahead of launch. Not to mention on launch day too!

While there are already several notable creature-capturing games out there, it will be interesting to see what Aniimo brings to this genre of games. A lot of questions and curiosity remain in the run-up to the game’s release, however, will you be jumping into Aniimo when it launches next month?
