My Time at Evershine: Latest Developer Updates You Should Know

Today, I wanted to put another game on your radar. It might be one you’ve already heard about. Maybe a game that you’ve played, one of the two previous instalments. Maybe this is the first time you are hearing about it. The game in question is My Time at Evershine.

I’ll admit, I’m a little bit behind on how development of the game has been going over the last few months however, now is as good as any time to catch up on what has been happening!

What is My Time at Evershine?

My Time at Evershine is the upcoming third instalment of the My Time at series. Previously we’ve seen My Time at Portia as well as My Time at Sandrock.

The games have previously included many life simulation and farming game elements as well as role playing game features, which continue into Evershine. However, with My Time at Evershine, much like the earlier games, the game is set three hundred years after the Day of Calamity.

That day destroyed what civilisation was alongside much of the then modern technology in the My Time universe and meant that those who remained had to rebuild everything from the ground up, including society. From this the Alliance of Free Cities was created alongside the military organisation called the Civil Corps. Now, The Alliance is at war with the Duvos Empire, who are on a mission to obtain the ancient technology, among other suspicious plans.

Players will find themselves taking on the role of governor of a small town in the post apocalyptic setting. You’ll be tasked with collecting resources to help fulfil a number of different quests as you make your way through the game. My Time at Evershine can be played as a single player experience or you can team up with friends in multiplayer.

Created by Pathea Games, who are based in China, many fans of the series are excited to see the games launch. Currently that is expected to be during 2026, but no official date has been released yet. However, we do know that the game is to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S as well as Windows and Nintendo Switch 2.

The Kickstarter

For the most part, updates on the game’s development come from the hugely successful Kickstarter campaign. Having reached its initial goal under an hour of the campaign launching, the game then exceeded one million dollars in support within the first day!

The Pathea Games team uses the Kickstarter to share regular updates on how the game is progressing. Sharing details on different features of the game, regular question and answer sessions, a detailed FAQ section and general news about the game.

While the My Time at Evershine Kickstarter has been incredibly successful and continues to see support, the two most recent updates are what has caught my attention and brought me back up to speed with the game’s progress.

The April Developer Log

The April Developer Log gave players and backers an insight into two aspects the team has recently been working on. This comes in the form of the detail of the character models and in game weather. Both include a number of interesting points for both of these updates. So let’s break it down a little bit.

Character Detailing

One of the first items that the Pathea team addressed was how they had taken some of the old familiar faces and given them a new look. This came in the form of new detailing which aligns with My Time at Evershine’s more realistic art style while at the same time keeping it in line with the original design.

In turn, this means that the character models in the next instalment of the My Time series will feel more true to life than previously seen. Even though the team has said that this was an ambitious task, which has given them some setbacks, they’ve been working hard to overcome them and get things back on track.

The work they’ve been putting in means that characters will be able to be more expressive with their eyes and their emotions and how that can help bring impactful and immersive gameplay to the game.

However, there’s more!

The Pathea team also went as far as to essentially redesign how hair works all from the ground up. While admitting that it was more demanding, their hard work has been paying off. They’ve also managed to keep the style in line with what was shown initially on the Kickstarter campaign.

And you thought I was finished? There’s still more!

This time it comes in the realm of having more control over how your character looks. This now extends into your character’s body size and height, which has been a feature previously not seen in either My Time at Portia or Sandrock. This was mainly due to limitations in the game’s base structure and art pipeline however, in Evershine, that all changes.

The team couldn’t have done it without the support of the Kickstarter backers, which have helped the team create this new character framework from scratch, just like the work they’ve done with the hair modelling too.

Although there have been many positives with this work, such as limbs and torsos adjusting in a more natural way, there’s still some work to do with the likes of clipping alongside some smaller fixes. However, progress is going well on this feature while it’s still in its work in progress stage.

The Weather

While a smaller focus of this April developer log, the My Time team has also been working hard on the dynamic weather system in the game. With two examples of the weather, one more gloomy and overcast and one in a more sunny and warm setting. Both look stunning, and I’m sure in game they will look even more amazing!

All of this and more can be found on the My Time at Evershine Kickstarter. My aim is to stay more up to date with the Kickstarter updates forward, as it’s one game I’m very much looking forward to when it does release. I’d like to see it released towards the end of the year or in the first quarter of 2027 however, time will tell. I’ll be posting more about My Time at Evershine on here more regularly going forward in the lead up to the game’s launch as well as when it officially launches.

Have you played any of the earlier My Time games before, such as My Time at Portia or My Time at Sandrock? Maybe My Time at Evershine is the first My Time game you’ll be hopping into? Let me know your thoughts below in the comments!
