Happy New Year!

Since this is the first post of a new year of content, I wanted to start by looking at upcoming life simulation games that are not only releasing this year, but I’m excited to check out when they release! Truthfully, there are just so many interesting ones set to release over the next twelve months that I wouldn’t be able to squeeze them all into one post. This is why I’ve chosen to highlight five this time around that fit the broader life simulation genre and not just specifically cosy life simulation games.

Now, the life simulation genre of games really has grown over the last few years and while traditionally, The Sims has led the way, it’s nice to see more up-and-coming ones release. Each has its own unique twist and approach to the genre. This adds to being able to captivate players in new and interesting ways with not only the premise of the game itself but with any storytelling, characters, customization, mechanics and so much more!

So, let’s check out five upcoming life simulation games launching in 2026!

Heartopia

First up and releasing on very soon is Heartopia.

The game is set to launch on PC and Mobile 7th January 2026 and comes from the XD Games team. Heartopia is a game where you can find a number of ways to explore, relax, garden, cook, take care of cats and more!

Players will find themselves following the guidance of the Star Spirit, who is mysterious to say the least. You take on the role of the town developer of the island. The island features a peaceful laid back atmosphere but will also allow you to uncover the hidden secrets and stories from other residents. Players can also customize their own furniture, create colour outfits, build your dream home as well as support for user generate content.

So get ready to explore a game about creativity, peace and freedom. A game that lets you go at your own pace, build your dream home, make friends, explore a huge variety of hobbies and so much more!

Paralives

Although Paralives was delayed from its original December release date, it’s still very much on its way towards it’s Steam Early Access release date of 25th May 2026.

Paralives has been one of those games, whose development I’ve followed over the past few years. While similar to The Sims in some ways, it’s taken that inspiration and turned it into its own. Build homes, create Parafolk, manage the day-to-day lives of your characters, explore the open world and plenty more.

There certainly is a lot of anticipation surrounding this game, even having a look at the Live Mode Gameplay video linked below gives you a good starting point as to what you can expect in Paralives when it launches.

Witchbrook

Another highly anticipated life simulation release for 2026 is the one and only Witchbrook!

This charming, magical and mystical game is finally releasing, and it’s certainly going to be one on everyone’s radar. You’ll find yourself attending the local college to learn spells and secrets, as well as getting to know the local townsfolk. Explore Mossport, make friends, take on adventures you can only dream of in Witchbrook!

My Time at Evershine

Currently planned for a Spring 2026 release, My Time at Evershine is the follow-up to My Time at Sandrock. This next instalment takes players through a story with memorable characters in a new world and with events that happen after those in Sandrock. Become the town governor, build up the tow, recruit settlers and take on a management role when it comes to town resources. Player’s will also be able to build deep and meaningful relationships with other characters, harness building and combat skills and try out new in game mechanics such as gliding and taming wilds.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

Now, I can’t forget Nintendo’s own quirky and chaotic life simulation game in this list!

For those who’ve played the previous Tomodachi Life, you’ll have an idea what to expect. For those, just like myself, being brand new to the game series, a whole new world awaits us. This is also the first new Tomodachi Life game in over 10 years, with this latest instalment launching in Spring 2026!

Players can find themselves building their dream lives on this new, recently discovered island, make friends, cause chaos, have fun exploring and maybe, just maybe, drop in on other Mii’s dreams!

These are just some of the many new life simulation games launching during 2026 and show a snapshot of what fans of the genre can expect. While these games have been in development for some time, it will be exciting for players to finally get their hands of the games upon release and dive into new worlds and experiences!
