August is an incredibly exciting month for games, even more so for Fields of Mistria, as they will be embarking on a brand new journey out of Early Access.
Having originally been released on 4th August 2024, after two years, and to also celebrate the game’s second birthday, Fields of Mistria makes its way into its 1.0 era.
It’s actually pretty exciting, and this is a game I’ve played myself here and there since its original release. However, this post isn’t about my experience but more an informative overview about the game and what to expect on 5th August 2026.

What is Fields of Mistria?
Simply put, Fields of Mistria is a nostalgic farming and life simulation role-playing game. A game where romance, magic and adventure await players.
Developed and published by Chicago-based NPC Studio, Fields of Mistria took the indie game world by storm and has been going from strength to strength ever since.
Hidden between the sea and forest lays Mistria. The place you, as the player, can call home. With a homestead that is overgrown but full of potential, you’ll help local residents around the town in exchange for their help with your new home. When an earthquake causes havoc and a peculiar kind of magic begins to flow throughout Mistria, it’s down to the player to restore the town back to its former glory!
Fields of Mistria is in fact a spiritual successor to many farming simulation and RPG games from the 90s and beyond. Think Harvest Moon on the SNES all the way to Stardew Valley and beyond. Build the farm of your dreams, and while on your quest, discover magic, romance and countless adventures.
Key Game Features
Fields of Mistria is made up of a number of core features, with many of these fitting into three core categories: general gameplay, villagers and story. However, you’ll find familiar features such as farming, fishing, crafting, exploration and mining as well as romance and marriage, ranching and breeding, unlocking magic spells, seasonal festivals and plenty more!
Gameplay

Story
- Rebuild and revitalise Mistria through main story quests, side quests and future game content
- Help raise Mistria’s Star Rank and renown from the starting Wood Star rank up to and beyond the Diamond Star rank
- Unravel mysteries of the town’s past and return the magic to Mistria
- Over 5,000 unique character dialogue lines and dozens of cutscenes
- Complete hand-written requests which are available daily via the town’s request board
Villagers
- Meet and befriends over 30 characters. This includes 10 candidates for marriage and 2 special marriage candidates
- Raise marriage candidate hearts up to eight and unlock their special events as you do make progress
- Once you reach 8 hearts with a marriage candidate, choose whether you want to be best friends or more
- Take your romantic interest(s) on a variety of unlockable dates at 8 hearts
- Get to know the daily dynamic routines of characters and how they change depending on the seasons and weather
- Discover villagers’ unique seasonal and special beach outfits
- Villagers have a number of beautiful and expressive animated portraits
Where can I purchase Fields of Mistria?
Fields of Mistria is currently available on Steam in its early access state at a price of £11.79. Once the game reaches and is released into its 1.0 version on 5th August 2026, the game will remain at the same price.
Currently, there is no demo for the game, and Fields of Mistria is also fully Steam Deck verified.
Version 1.0 features and future content?
Once Fields of Mistria has reached its 1.0 release, NPC Studio has plans to add new content periodically. The most recent roadmap contains what was added on the recent July 2026 update, what’s coming on the 5th of August 2026 and a rough idea as to what is coming post-1.0 release!

What time does Fields of Mistria release?
The team has already revealed a cute but simple graphic to give players, both long-time and new, an idea as to when it will be released into its 1.0 version in their timezone.
Ready for a new life in Mistira?
While I’ve played Fields of Mistria myself here and there during its early access, I’m incredibly excited for it to be moving into its 1.0 release next week. It’s a game that has a lot of charm and nostalgia and is perfect to settle down and get cosy with. Although it’s been some time since I previously played, I’m excited to dive in with a new save and start re-exploring Mistria all over again.
There’s plenty to see and do as well as plenty to be uncovered as you work to restore the world back to what it used to be like. With a story to guide you, characters to get to know and potentially marry one day, there’s plenty to keep players busy in Fields of Mistria.
