It has felt like an eternity however, we finally have some news from Pearl Abyss about DokeV!
DokeV has been one game since its initial reveal at Gamescom 2021 that has stuck with me and I’ve been waiting to hear and see more about. After a period of no news and limited updates, I think it’s safe to say, following the release of Pearl Abyss’s latest earnings letter, we can start to see more about the game and on a more regular basis.
So, let’s start with a quick recap as to what DokeV is and take a look at the latest updates that were shared earlier today!

What is DokeV?
DokeV is well DokeV!
It’s an upcoming open-world action-adventure creature-collecting game set in a fresh, vibrant and immersive universe. With a narrative designed to see players experience the world while growing alongside the Dokev, which are the creatures you live alongside. Pearl Abyss are developing the game to focus on a variety of bright and standout visuals alongside dynamic action and exploration accompanied by rich interactive mechanics at the game’s core.

Is there a release date?
While no firm release date has been revealed just yet, based on what has been shared in the latest earnings letter, it appears Pearl Abyss is aiming for a late 2028 release. The letter talks about how that is currently the target date for the game and that the game’s reveal strategy is being aligned to this new timeline. This would also work alongside the vision of a new release every two to three years.
Pearl Abyss released Crimson Desert back in March 2026, so this current timeline with a new release every two to three years would work quite well for DokeV. This, alongside Plan 8, which is another new release the studio is also working on.
Overall, the studio has confirmed development for DokeV has been going smoothly and is advancing well. With Crimson Desert stabilising, post-launch resources are now able to be moved over to focus on DokeV going forward. Full-scale marketing initiatives, including talks of a hands-on demo, could be seen towards the latter half of 2027.
Where can I read the latest earnings letter?
Pearl Abyss shares the earnings letters directly on the studio website, and they are available to view publicly via the investors section of the website. The most recent one is for the second quarter of 2026. You can also look back at previous earnings letters as well.
This is a really exciting time for DokeV. Having been quiet for so long, and even though the news is small, it’s also mighty at the same time. DokeV, based on what we’ve seen already, looks amazing, and with development going to the next level, it’s bound to bring us even more to be excited for.
I expect it might be a little while again before we get our next wave of news however, this is promising. This is a game that I know many people are excited for. One that many of us thought had been forgotten about or even sadly cancelled, but it’s still going strong!
For myself, I’m incredibly excited for DokeV, and it still remains a game that I can’t wait to dive in and explore and continue to support and share more content on going forward!
