An extra little post for you today, and this time, we are taking a look at the Paralives early access gameplay trailer that the team released yesterday.
As a quick recap, Paralives is the upcoming, incredibly highly anticipated indie life simulation game from Alex Massé and team and the Paralives Studio. Having been in development for the last few years, and following a slight early access launch change. The game enters its early access period on Monday, 25th May 2026.
Having been in the works since 2019, many life simulation fans are eager to dive into a new life simulation world which offers a different experience from The Sims. Of course, The Sims is most notable for leading the genre since its release back in 2000.

Paralives Gameplay Trailer
Coming in at just under nine minutes in length, the Paralives Studio Team certainly has packed a lot into the trailer. There’s truly so much showcased and to spot that coming when the game launches next week.
I’ve broken down some of the features shown in this recent gameplay trailer. Aspects of which I’m excited for which, if I’m honest is 99% of the early access gameplay trailer for Paralives!
The Opening of the Trailer
There’s no denying that initially, aspects of the opening moments of the trailer feel reminiscent in a way of The Sims. Doing some workouts, fixing broken items and a bit of chaos in the kitchen.
That aside, next we are on a train, and I liked how this is where you can either select a pre-made household or create your own!

Create A Parafolk and Picking a Storyteller
Creating a Parafolk is one aspect I’m really looking forward to exploring myself, since it looks like there are a lot of details and customisation to make truly unique characters.
As for picking a Storyteller, this interests me as I do enjoy the storytelling aspect in life simulation games. However, it will be interesting to see exactly what these storyteller characters can do in game and how much that can impact the way your game unfolds.

The Town of Melino
The town itself looks wonderful and certainly holds plenty of opportunities to explore, live out dreams, and build a new life. I haven’t yet looked at the world in great detail, as I want to dive in and be surprised when the game launches next week.
Of course, this leads into the build mode of Paralives, too.

Build Mode
While I love storytelling, build mode and customisation are where I spend a lot of time. I’ve always enjoyed just messing around to discover different techniques, pushing limits and building outside of my comfort zone. Paralives, however, brings a fresh approach to building with tools and techniques at launch that we didn’t see in the likes of The Sims.
Curved walls, easily resize objects, easy terraforming and more. The way Paralives makes building look smooth and easy to do, regardless of whether you are new to building or a seasoned pro, it certainly looks welcoming regardless.

Did I mention there’s also a colour wheel? If you know, you know!
Worldly Activities
Continuing through the Paralives early access gameplay trailer, we start to get a glimpse of some of the activities you can do around the world. You can directly purchase items and food, make donations and take part in outdoor activities such as yoga.

Parafolk Personalities
One thing I’d forgotten about until watching this recent gameplay trailer is Parafolk’s personalities and how these can level up and change as you progress through the game. I’m curious to see how that works in more detail and how it works across different characters, as well as the impact those level-ups can have.

Mods! Mods! MODS!
This is something that I’m very interested in, as well as the different types of mods that the community will create over time. The modding communities in numerous games are always so talented and creative with what they create that I’m sure it will be the same with Paralives.

Overall Thoughts
The recent early access gameplay trailer for Paralives certainly has brought a new level of excitement to its anticipated release. Having followed the game’s progress and development from 2019 has been amazing to see. It feels slightly surreal that it’s launching into early access in just a few days.
Paralives is certainly a game I’ll be playing and exploring (which will likely mean more Paralives content too) and creating stories in a new world. Even beyond the initial gameplay trailer, there’s plenty more to look forward to as this life simulation continues to grow and develop while it’s in early access and beyond.
However, that’s enough of me talking about Paralive’s new early access gameplay trailer. The team also released an extended gameplay reveal, which dives deeper into what we can expect when the game launches on Steam next week.
Are you planning on picking up Paralives when it launches into early access next week? Let me know in the comments below.
