About a month ago, I dived into the demo for Tiny Bookshop. A cute and cosy book lover’s dream! Now, I’m excited to bring you an insight into the full game!
Tiny Bookshop is everything. Forget everything that you know, including that monotonous 9-5 working life, and open your dream tiny bookshop by the seaside. This cosy narrative management game is packed from cover to cover with everything that you need.
Players can really customise their bookshops in a variety of ways, from decorating various different aspects, collect an array of items to help bring your bookshop to life, pick and choose what books and genres you want to stock, recommend books to customers and more! Of course, this is all while getting to know your customers, and you may even be able to befriend some of them.
Players will also find themselves exploring Bookstonbury-by-the-Sea, a variety of different locations, and you may even stumble across some hidden secrets along the way.

The Previous Chapters
Now, upon launching Tiny Bookshop, I spotted that I could pick straight back up with the game from where I was last in the demo. This was actually a lovely surprise, however, let’s quickly recap on the opening moments of Tiny Bookshop!

In the demo, we had a look at the first three in-game days. This gave us the opportunity to get an idea of the various features, locations and characters you would find in the game. We learnt about how to decorate and customise our little bookshop, how to stock and recommend a variety of books, got to know some of our early customers and even some of the locals!
It was a great starting point to help players get an idea of what to expect when the game fully launches. There was also so much still to discover that I couldn’t wait to dive back into the game again!

New Chapters & New Horizons to Explore
So we are jumping back in at the end of Day 3 in Tiny Bookshop. At this moment in time, we’ve unlocked a couple of different locations and started to feel confident in navigating our way around the game.
First up, a quick catch up of the Bookstonbury Review! The perfect way to keep track on what’s going on in and around various locations, the weather, any important events and a chance to pick up some more books and decorative items!

Next, with seventy-two coins in our pocket, it was time to pick our next destination. Now, when choosing a location, we also need to keep in mind not only the cost of pitching up in said location but also our daily running cost.
You can find out your daily running cost/expense when you are in the customisation screen!

Our first few days back in game gave me a chance to re-familiarise myself with the game features but also remind myself of things I may have forgotten about. For me, this was some of the smaller side quests that some characters may ask you to do!
Now that I was back up to speed, it was time to get into selling some books! First, a fresh lick of paint, new decor and a whole host of new books. I had my recommendations at the ready, in the hope that I didn’t get any wrong, and books were soon flying off the shelves.
I was trying to focus more so on the finer details of the game. The request from local towns people. Collecting as many stamps as I possibly can, unlocking all the different locations, befriending the locals and so much more!
And just like a good book, I was hooked, wanting to know more but also not wanting to spoil anything that lay ahead for me!

Tiny Bookshop truly is a book lover’s dream cosy game. With notable nods to many authors and their books to the stories. You’ll really find yourself the author of your own story, essentially. From managing the day-to-day variety of books from across the seven genres, the customers you interactive with and the even the stories they may have.
Different locations, will bring different characters, and certain genres will be bigger sellers than others. It’s important to keep in mind what books you have on hand, your decorations, your daily running expense and even your location costs, but it soon becomes second nature.

So, if you are looking for an exciting, cosy indie game to play or even add to your To Be Played list, then Tiny Bookshop might just be right up your street! It really is a dream come true for any book fan, and who knows what secrets or plot twists you may discover as you play!
I’ve truly enjoyed the time I’ve spent playing Tiny Bookshop, both in the demo and now in the full game. It’s wonderfully wholesome, perfectly cosy and has been a delight to get an idea as to running my own fictional bookshop! A dream that I’d love to one day make a reality.
Now, go and explore Bookstonbury-by-the-Sea!
Tiny Bookshop is out now on Steam and also as a surprise launched on Nintendo Switch! So get cosy and enjoy!
