Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later, right?
If you hadn’t already guessed, I have yet again returned to Final Fantasy XIV. I’ve lost count of how many times since I started playing the game that I’ve taken a break and then returned. Although, this is certainly the longest time I’ve been away from the game. So much so, I hadn’t actually reinstalled it when I got my new computer earlier in the year. That in itself took a few hours to do, but now I’m back causing chaos on the Moogle server as a cute, adorable and totally innocent Lalafell!
Why make a Return Now?
After playing a lot of Final Fantasy XIV last Summer, I hadn’t touched the game since. I had just switched over to playing as a Lalafell for the first time, and it was a lot of fun, actually. More recently, I’ve just been missing playing the game and have been seeing a lot of people over on Bluesky talking about it. So I guess you could say that’s why I’ve jumped back in.
I’ve always found that it’s a game I can just do whatever I want depending on how I’m feeling. If I wanted to do more story focused quests and side quests, I can. If I want something a little more chilled out and relaxing, I can go fish or level up one of my many other Jobs instead.
But, the Switch to a Lalafell, Why?
The Lalafell way of life in Final Fantasy is a unique one at that. I had always played as a Hyur since the start of my journey with this game, and I felt it was time to play as a different race in-game.
It has honestly been great fun since making the change and has really given me some very random and unique interactions with other players. For example, I’ve lost count how many times I’ve been randomly gifted acorns at this point. Being a Lalafell is one of those experiences that is hard to explain unless you’ve experienced it yourself.
What’s the Plan Now?
Well, that’s the difficult bit if I’m honest.
I want to carry on with making progress with the Dawntrail Main Story Quests, keep going through countless side quests and just trying to pick back up from where I left the game last time. Although, what I do want to work on is my Botanist, Fishing and Weaver skills.
I’ve neglected these in the past quite a bit but want to try and level these up so that they are more in line with one another. I also actually really enjoy doing these skills instead. I might even start up a fourth crafting job yet!
Despite this, there’s still so much I need to explore and re-discover in Final Fantasy XIV. There’s still so much that I haven’t done despite playing on and off for I think the last five maybe six years now. Shocking I know!
Summer Time Vibes
My first port of call was to head to Costa del Sol and complete the new Moonfire Faire! I always enjoy these events and this time around it was no different. I really enjoyed the Seasonal event this year, the rewards and the added location. I don’t want to spoil too much!
However, next you’ll probably find me over in Limsa Lominsa hanging around near the Market boards or somewhere out in the world fishing!
