Dawntrail is the latest expansion in the Final Fantasy XIV universe. Adding even more adventures for Warriors to embark on. Discover mesmerizing new locations and learn plenty of new skills. Truthfully, the whole expansion is just amazing.
Now, I did fall off the Final Fantasy XIV train for a bit, and Dawntrail pulled me back in. I’d heard so many people talking about how excited they were for a new expansion and what was coming that I was very tempted to pick it up at launch.
While I didn’t pick it up on launch day, I waited until a few days after and jumped in. But this time it was going to be different. Before, I’ve gone through phases of not knowing what I wanted to do in the game. I primarily play Final Fantasy XIV solo, and I’ve always found features like dungeons and raids difficult. Even at over five hundred hours into the game, there was plenty I hadn’t yet explored.
Before my Dawntrail journey, it was time to think about what class I wanted to be going forward. I had not long started learning the Arcanist Class and stopped around level fifteen. After exploring which Jobs I was levelled up in and which I wanted to explore, I stuck with what I had been learning prior as it felt easier.
With my chosen class decided on, it was now a case of getting it levelled up to level thirty, so I would pursue the Summoner side of the class. This didn’t take me too long, and after revisiting some of the early game dungeons, was well on my way.
Levelling took me forever, but I eventually got to a place where I was happy and ready to take on the Dawntrail expansion, there was just one tiny problem.
Great Things Come in Small Packages, They Say
As well as a new class, it was time for a new look. Since I started playing Final Fantasy XIV, I had always played as a Hyur. However, after purchasing a Phial of Fantasia, I was now embarking on an even more interesting adventure as a Lalafell! Yes, that’s right, a Lalafell!
There’s been numerous occasions where I’ve been waiting on a dungeon to queue and have used emotes to sit down, and other players have come up to me and pat me on the head. I’ve been gifted acorns by players dressed as squirrels and even ended up in a game of tag between other Lalafell’s!
If you know, you know!
To tell you the truth, I was not ready for the laughs and chaos I’ve experienced since becoming a Lalafell. Every time I log in, even if I don’t have a good time with dungeons or raids, I can say I always find a way to have a laugh as a Lalafell somehow, and it just makes me smile. Even the interactions with other players and causing chaos in general, it was definitely a good move!
What About Dawntrail?
I’m still incredibly early into the expansion. I’m trying not to rush through it, but it’s honestly stunning! The new locations, the new characters you get to meet, everything! I’ve been trying to make steady progress with the main story while also working on continuing to work towards level one hundred as a Summoner, level up my crafting classes and just have fun!
I’m excited to see how the story unfolds in Dawntrail especially playing through as a Lalafell! Let’s just hope I can finish it before the next expansion is released this time!
