Super Puzzled Cat is the first game from Penguin Mug Games! In fact is a game that had been in the making for nine years before it’s release earlier this month. The game has been an adventure for the team and for it to finally be released is incredibly exciting.
However, what is Super Puzzled Cat all about? Well, let’s take a closer look.

What You Need to Know
Your mission, should you choose to accept it is to guide Puzzled Cat through a variety of different levels. One hundred and fifty to be exact. Use a variety of tools from portals, bombs, jetpacks, gum and more to tackle even the most difficult of platforming levels.
However, that’s not all. Play your own way by utilizing the save states to take on each world, challenge and secrets. The great thing about the save states is that you can use them to curate your own playthrough where you can focus on different aspects of the game or obstacles that you come up against. Despite this you can make your adventure more daring by taking on the game without using them!
Most importantly, did I mention about the Cat? I’ll leave that for you to find out in game!
A Pixel Purr-fect Adventure
I was not ready for the chaos that was about to unfold as I was playing through the levels of Super Puzzled Cat. This game has been everything I was hoping it would be and more!
While the game is better suited for playing with a controller via Bluetooth, I took on the challenge by using keyboard controls instead. It took me a moment to figure out the layout but I was soon off to see what the game had in store for me.
The first handful of levels take you through learning the basics, utilizing the save states feature and learning the various mechanics and how each power up works for Puzzled Cat. Sounds easy right? Well, you can imagine how I got on with some of the harder levels, having to take several attempts to finally reach that every so mesmerizing ball of yarn, however I digress for a moment.
The game itself is colourful and eye catching while not being overwhelming with a cute art style. The music and sound effects work perfectly to convey Puzzled Cat’s curiosity and pulling every aspect of the game together gives you the purr-fect combination for this game. It really reminds me of some of the early platforming and puzzle games I played growing up and from what I’ve played of the game so far, I can not fault it in anyway.

I’ve found myself trying to piece together the next move in a level to overcome a bit that I’ve been stuck on for a little while, to having to reload from my last save state just so I can re-use the power up as I accidentally used it on a previous move I made. I’ve been in search of the many golden coins scattered throughout the game but ultimatley it’s been the ball of yarn at the end of the level that’s the grand prize for Puzzled Cat and I!
Truthfully, I lost count throughout my playthrough with the game as to how many times I was reloading a certain aspect of a level. The Save States really came in handy for me. Even more so when trying to fully complete each level but it added another element of fun to my experience. Of course, with each level you complete the ones that follow slowly but surely becoming more and more difficult. Yet, this all adds to the fun and challenge of the game.
So, if you are looking for a fun, cute, adorable and colourful puzzle platforming game, I highly reccomend Super Puzzled Cat! For me it has everything I want from this kind of game and has been lots of fun to play through so far. Now, I just need to work through the latter levels, and hopefully I’ll comeplete all one hundred and fifty levels the game has to offer and discover all of the secrets this game has to offer!
Super Puzzled Cat is out right now on Steam for £14.29 or your local equivlent. In the mean time, why not check out the free demo of the game right here!
