DokeV: Hit it, Beat It, Like a Rockstar

During Gamescom Opening Night Live back in 2021, amongst all the amazing reveals from that night, there was one game that stuck with me ever since.

The game in question was an upcoming game from Peal Abyss called DokeV.

From the get-go, its cute and adorable charm had my attention. The music was influenced by the K-pop genre, in my head. This was a game I was certainly going to be keeping tabs on.

With a combination of open-world gameplay, action-adventure features and creature-collecting, it sounds like a dream game for many. Players can collect Dokebi which are found throughout the world. The whimsical and adorable characters seem to play many roles within the game and are inspired by both Korean mythology and folklore.

What’s Happening with DokeV?

There’s no denying that the game looks wonderful and would appeal to many people. Now despite the reveal at Gamescom in 2021, DokeV was initially revealed at the Pearl Abyss Connect previously in 2019.

However, it’s now the middle of 2024, and information on the game has been pretty sparse. There have been small bits of information (as found on Reddit) here and there that suggest the game is still in active development, but the team at Pearl Abyss are currently working on wrapping up work on the upcoming Crimson Desert game. Either way, this is still incredibly promising for DokeV fans!

Is There A Release Date?

There’s been no release date revealed yet however, my guess will be late 2025 or even early 2026 at the moment. However, hopefully, we will start to see some new information about DokeV’s development later in the year.

It’s Gonna be Special!

Has the trailer song been stuck in your head? Yeah, that sounds about right!

Another aspect of DokeV’s 2021 announcement was the song that accompanies the trailer. Now, this is where some of my inner K-pop fan comes out.

The song in question actually has an official music video featuring the characters from DokeV and of course Dokebi too.

After the trailer had been revealed, the DokeV team clearly knew this song was a hit and a few months later the team released the official music video for the TAK Remix of Rockstar. Amongst the various talented people who worked on the song, there was one that stood out. This being GALACTIKA. Now they are known for working with the K-pop girl group ITZY. There was even an unconfirmed rumour at the time of the video release that said the singer in the music video was in fact ITZY’s very own Yuna. Though that remains unconfirmed to this date, but you can take what you want from that rumour.

Much like many K-pop videos we see nowadays, the video is jam-packed and full of energy and colour! However, it also gives us an idea of features we can expect to see in the game itself. It’s a nice added touch to help bring the world of DokeV to life even more.

I’m really hoping we hear some news about DokeV soon. It’s been so long since we last heard something about the game, and it just looks so fun! Who doesn’t want to explore the world of DokeV, meet and learn more about Dokebi and get lost in the game’s unique charm?
