Have you ever found yourself, scrolling through the Nintendo Switch E-shop and thought to yourself “Oh I’ll grab that game while it’s a good price!” Maybe not just digital games but physical games as well.
I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that, as I can hold my hands up and say this has happened to me on a few occasions. More than I probably would like to admit.
Recently I found myself scrolling through my Nintendo Switch game library and came across many games I had forgotten about. Of course, once I’d finished looking through what was on my console. I then moved over to my physical library, and you guessed it, there were even more games there I’d forgotten about.
The Physical Backlog
I felt it was best to start by going through my physical backlog of Nintendo Switch games. This way I could see exactly what there is as well as settle on ones I would be likely to check out first. Needless to say, there are just a few that still to be played.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE
This game. I have started countless times and every single time, I have been distracted by another game. I really do need to sit down and play this in its entirety because I thoroughly enjoyed what I had played previously.
This wasn’t a day one purchase for me, but more one that I spotted one day that I thought looked interesting. Not really knowing much about the game or its history, I was ultimately going in blind. Despite this, it was definitely worth it!
Xenoblade Chronicles 3
While this was a day-one purchase, its release date and life at the time did not align well. Things were pretty hectic and gaming was the last thing on my mind at the time. Once things had settled down, I kept meaning to play it and again, just never got around to it for whatever reason.
The Digital Backlog
As for the digital backlog, well that’s ever so slightly bigger than the physical backlog. Who doesn’t love a good sale on Nintendo Switch anyway?
Bear & Breakfast
I picked up Bear & Breakfast for two reasons. The first was that I’d only heard great things about the game and how much everyone was enjoying it. The second was that it was very much an impulse buy for me at the time and I knew that it would sit in my backlog for a while before getting to it.
Nostalgic Train
There was something about Nostalgic Train that just drew me in instantly. The unique appeal of the game is that it was described as a walking simulator based in the Japanese countryside. The first-person game takes you on a mystical and melancholic journey. Your task is to solve the mystery of those who have gone missing in Natsugiri as well as yourself.
Another aspect of the game that grabbed my attention was that you could play through the story but also explore at your own pace in the free explore mode.
Persona 5 Royal
Finally, a game that I started originally on PlayStation 4 and then picked up for Nintendo Switch while it was on sale. Admittedly, I did get about fifteen hours into the Switch version of Persona 5 Royal before stopping. Strangely enough, it wasn’t because I didn’t want to play it, but I just got a point in the game where I hit a brick wall with it. I decided a break from the game would probably help, and then never went back to it.
It’s definitely a game I want to start over with again at some point in the future, but I also know it’s a game that will probably require fewer distractions from other games, too. Either way, it will be a game to revisit and hopefully complete this time around.
