I know I’m a bit late to the party however, the recent Disney Dreamlight Valley showcase was jam-packed with so many exciting updates that it’s taken me until now to properly take in everything that was revealed!
I’ve been playing Dreamlight Valley since its launch, and while I played relatively consistently to start with. The past few months have been more of a here-and-there approach. Now, that’s not because I’ve run out of things to do or got bored with the game more I was distracted by other games. However, the excitement leading up to the showcase and now that the community knows what is on the horizon it has reignited that spark and excitement to play properly again.

The Showcase
Firstly, I missed the actual showcase live stream because of real life and only saw the vast selection of social media posts after the stream. When I finally sat down to watch it, I was excited all over again!
Multiplayer Update
Oh, I can’t wait for this. I’ve been wanting to play with my friends for so long and finally, in just a matter of weeks, we’ll be able to! It’s going to be like those first few times I played Animal Crossing New Horizons with my friends during lockdown. Exploring each other’s islands and checking out what Scrooge McDuck has in his shop! I can’t wait!
Jack Skellington & Winter Star Path
Jack Skellington. Do I need to say more? Not really, however, I’m excited to see some Nightmare Before Christmas content added to the game. As for the Winter Star Path, this will be one of the first ones I’ll be working through in a long time!
Free to Play Roadmap

While we know that Jack Skellington and the multiplayer update fall into this category, the other reveals for the coming months are also exciting. I loved Monsters Inc growing up as well as the old PlayStation game for the movie so I’m looking forward to seeing how Monsters Inc will fit into the Dreamlight Valley universe.
As for the new villager, I have ideas as to who it could be but I also don’t want to get my hopes up too early. The new dynasty must have something to do with Mulan being added and as for Tiana also being added to the game, this roadmap is shaping up to be pretty exciting!
It really is shaping up to be a pretty good few months for the game!
Expansion Pass Roadmap
Needless to say, I was not ready for this. I mean, I was but I also wasn’t at the same time.
This is probably the biggest reason my excitement and passion for Dreamlight Valley has returned in the way it has. While the free-to-play roadmap is pretty impressive, this exceeded what I was expecting.

Firstly, you’ve got EVE, Gaston, Rapunzel and Jafar joining the roster. A new world to explore, tools to master, secrets to unravel and discover and I can not wait to explore the new expansion for Dreamlight Valley. I also like how they’ve split the Rift in Time expansion into several sections giving us plenty of time to explore each new aspect of the pass!
Apple Arcade Release
I won’t lie, I’m actually somewhat intrigued to check this out when it releases in December. Whether I will do so straight away or not is another question. From what I understand, there will be some element of cross-play/cross-save so I’m hoping that I can play on the go while travelling.

No More Free-to-Play Option
I’ll be totally honest, prior to the announcement, I somewhat expected this would be the case. There wasn’t one particular moment or anything from the Disney Dreamlight Valley Team but more just an inkling I guess you could say.
I’m happy to see the game leave Early Access at the end of the year and just hope that the team remain transparent going forward with the game. Even though the game is going to remain a paid game for the time being, maybe it will follow a similar path much like The Sims 4 took? Only time will tell.
Final Thoughts
I’m incredibly excited to be diving back into the valley once again as well as to be able to explore new lands in the upcoming expansion pack.
I’ve got a lot of work to do in my valley as well as quests to complete and characters to unlock. Definitely plenty to keep me busy for the time being!
Before I go and a small request, if anyone knows where I can get paper for Ursula, please let me know. The quest has been glitched for me forever and I don’t know what I can do!
