And just like that, the first month of the new year came to an end. Honestly, it felt like it lasted forever but then that is usually just how January goes.
However, welcome to The Playlist!
The Playlist is essentially aimed at being a round-up of some of the things I’ve been enjoying over the past month. This could be anything from video games, music, books, film and TV and generally anything really. I previously had a similar series of posts on my other blog that followed a similar theme.
So, without further ado, let’s jump into the first Playlist of 2024!
Video Games
Over the past month, I’ve not played too many games but have mainly rotated around the same small handful.
First up Fortnite. This came off of the back of LEGO Fortnite launching. I’ve just had fun exploring the different game modes from the classic battle royale modes to Fortnite Festival and of course LEGO Fortnite. I did purchase the battle pass and have slowly been making my way through it.

Next up, and as I recently shared, is Palworld. I’ve been playing bits here and there and while it has been fun, I’m not sure if it’s a game I will play long-term or not at the moment. Currently, I feel it will be more of a here-and-there or checking-out when new features are added to the game.
The final game that I’ve been playing and desperately trying to complete is Final Fantasy XVI. I’ve been really enjoying it especially since this is the first ever Final Fantasy game I’ve picked up at launch. It was also one influencing reason why I picked up a PlayStation 5 back in the Summer.
I still have a long way to go until I’ve finished the game but I’m making some good steady progress with the game and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the story unfolds!

On the radar for February is Pokemon Legend Arceus, Eastward & the new Octopia downloadable content and making more progress through Final Fantasy XVI!
Music
What is on my actual playlist at the moment? Let’s take a look!
First up is Bring Me The Horizon. I was lucky enough to pick up some tickets last minute to see them locally and it was incredible. Easily one of my favourite concerts I’ve been to in a long time.
On repeat has been one song in particular. No, it’s not Kingslayer, but actually Parasite Eve from the same album.
Another song I’ve been loving recently is Maniac by VIVIZ! It’s so underrated, catchy and you can’t help trying to dance along to it!
Other artist’s music that I’ve been loving this month are Bad Omens (including the new collab with Poppy), BABYMETAL, TWICE, NMIXX, Whee In, You Me At Six and The Veronicas.
Books
I’ve slowly gotten back into reading as well this year. Very very long overdue too. Growing up I loved reading and over the last couple of years have been trying to find my way back. While I still have a selection of physical books, I’ve mainly been using my Kindle/Kindle App for the most part for reading.
Currently, I am reading through Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo-reum on my Kindle. As for my physical reading at the moment, I’m reading Disrupting the Game: From the Bronx to the Top of Nintendo by Reggie Fils-Aimé. Both are very different books but very interesting at the same time.
LEGO, Journaling and more!
Apart from the usual combination of video games and music, I’ve added more LEGO to my never-ending collection. I’ve added the new Cherry Blossom flowers and the Lego Creator 3-in-1 Retro Camera set. However, I wish I could say that was all but there may be one or two additional sets coming in about a month too. If you know, you know!

One new craft I’ve taken up for the new year is a mixture of journalling and scrapbooking. I wanted to do something a little different that also allowed me to be creative at the same time and this has been perfect. It’s still early days and I’m learning what kind of aesthetic and theme I want but overall it’s been great fun so far. Hopefully, I’ll be able to share some of my journal spreads in the future once I’ve got the hang of it a little more!
What was January like for you? Let me know!
