Let’s Make a Trinket Bag!

The game itself is very easy to jump in and get started with. You are presented a base bag, and you can instantly dive in and start creating.

There’s a lot of flexibility when it comes to creating your dream bag and even just getting your base prepared. You can easily switch between bag styles, colours, bag chains, backgrounds and frames at the bottom of the screen. Each of these options comes with further options for you to choose from.

With your base now ready, it’s time to start creating that bag!

For my first bag, I skipped the normal everyday bag styles and went straight in with a planet bag. I settled for it to be in purple and then added some finer details, such as chain style, and gave it an intense pink background and a starry frame.

Now it was certainly time to add a variety of trinkets, starting off with the keychains. With seven pages to jump through with Tamagotchis, music players, plush keychains, bows, mobile phones, USB sticks and more. It was hard to know just where to start.

Next up, lettering!

It took me some time to figure out what I wanted to put, as well as which lettering style and colouring I wanted to use. So why not choose one font and mix the colours up a little bit?

The next stage was adding more stickers and patches to the bag. With more celestial themed options as well as some spooky and cute options, there were a number of possibilities. With that, a number of potential outcomes too.

Now, I felt I was getting somewhere.

The final couple of sections opened up the possibility of adding some more key rings to add more charms and little pouches to the outside of the bag. This was alongside a number of options to everyday items in the bag as well, including a wand, makeup, plushies and a few more options.

After exploring and experimenting with each of the different sections, this was the current state of my bag. Lots of colour and random elements, but something that is also rather one of a kind. I jumped back through some of the tabs again and played around with a few more options before ending on the final vision below.

Nice and colourful, right? I think it turned out pretty well in the end.

Overall Thoughts

This is one game that my younger self would have loved to have had to create all the bags, with all the accessories I possibly could, growing up. Pairing this alongside those old school retro, I guess they would be called retro dress up games now. You’ll surely remember them. Many of us spent hours creating different outfits back in the day.

Anyway, I digress slightly there.

Trinket Bag Maker is a wonderful and fun sandbox game that brings feelings of childhood nostalgia mixed with a girly pop retro early noughties aesthetic all together. With countless combinations and pairings between different bag models and patches, keychains and every element in between, I do wonder what other kinds of bags I can come up with next.

Navigating the game is incredibly easy with tools to help you change the placement, size and positioning of each trinket you add to the bag. You can also take screenshots directly in game to help you capture these unique charming creations. There’s also an option to turn the game’s sound effects off, too.

Although it might be a short game, it is good fun if you want something laid back and creative to play. How you create your bag is up to you, and you can truly create some unique designs with what the game has to offer.

Trinket Bag Maker launches on Steam on Tuesday, 17th March 2026, at 11am PST. A special launch discount will be available upon the release of the game, and it will cost, before the discount, just $2.99.
