Pokémon Pokopia launches in a matter of days, and if you haven’t already heard, it’s going to be so much fun!
However, you might be curious about the game. Well, let me jump straight to it and break down the main things that we know about Pokémon Pokopia ahead of its 5th March launch!
The First Reveal of a New Adventure
Back in the middle of September 2025, we were graced with the very first look at Pokémon Pokopia. A new relaxing and cosy life simulation game for the Nintendo Switch 2 launching in 2026.
Out of the blue and unexpected, many Pokémon fans watched on, curious to see what this game was all about. It wasn’t the first look at the upcoming mainline Pokémon games, which we now know are Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, and it certainly wasn’t anything related to Pokémon Legends Z-A.
It was totally new. It was completely different to anything we had seen before, but we needed to know more.
Take a look at the first reveal trailer for Pokémon Pokopia before we dive in deeper!
Now, since this initial reveal, we’ve had a whole host of new information about the game. Especially over the last few weeks in the final run-up to the game’s release.
Playing As Ditto is Transformational
Ditto takes centre stage as our protagonist in Pokémon Pokopia.
While you’ll mainly be taking on the role of a Ditto who transforms into a human, you’ll also be able to learn and use multiple moves from various other Pokémon. With such a diverse number of moves, you can transform to use them to help you rebuild the town, make homes for other Pokémon friends and bring the world back to life.
Moves like Rock Smash will allow you to break walls, Glide allows you to fly between mountains, Surf allows you to take to the water and Leafage will help you with growing plants. That’s not to mention other skills, such as cooking, fishing, building friendships and crafting various objects for your town.

A Blank Canvas, Anything is Possible
Starting with nothing but a barren island, the possibilities of creating a cosy and peaceful, Pokémon filled utopia are endless. No two islands will be the same. You are the Master Ditto of your own craft, aided by the many Pokémon friends you make along the way!
With Professor Tanggrowth by your side as well, who knows what will be possible with this Pokopia utopia?

Take on Requests
Take on requests in game to help rebuild the island. Places like the Pokémon Center are hugely important and notable places within the games story that will help players on their journey.

Variants of Pokopia
We’ve seen this before in previous mainline games as well as the trading card game. While not unheard of, Pokémon variants are always fun and interesting to see and are usually exclusive to new regions. In the past we’ve seen the likes of Paldean Tauros, Alolan Dugtrio and Galarian Ponyta, to name a few. However, in Pokémon Pokopia, we have some brand new and never-before-seen Pokémon variants.
These new Pokémon are Peakychu, Mosslax and Smearguru, who are variants of Pikachu, Snorlax and Smeargle, respectively. Each of these being a new take on their original counterparts, it will also be interesting to see more of them when Pokopia launches.
However, while we have some new Pokopian variants, there are also some familiar faces making their own appearance in the game.
Rotom is back in the form of DJ Rotom. Dropping beats in the game. If you feed it CDs, you’ll be able to play a selection of different tracks from the Pokémon franchise.

Greedent is the ultimate chef, known as Chef Dente. Helping players cook up the very best meals for Ditto and friends!

Play With Friends
Build, run, jump, play games and get involved with up to four friends in game. Take part in group activities or even just sit back and relax and enjoy each other’s company.
