Let’s kick-start a new week by having a look at the Momento demo. Now, this landed in my inbox earlier today and as soon as I saw it, I knew I had to check it out!
What is Momento?
Momento is an upcoming cosy room decoration game with a twist from Fat Alien Cat and Nomo Studio.
In Momento, not only do you decorate a variety of rooms, you also get to choose your own adventure as you progress through the game. The way you choose to decorate, influences how the story plays out. Think back to when you were a child and would think about “when I grow up, I want to be” kind of magic and wonder.
With a variety of whimsical and vibrant rooms to decorate, each with its own charming narratives, Momento strives to be that pathway of following your dreams as you navigate life. Upon completion, you return to the start to discover and explore new endings and various twists and turns in the story as you explore topics such as love and loss.
The team, behind the game, want Momento to be a story of self-reflection. One where players can rediscover that those simple pleasures you experience as when you are younger, as well those challenging moments in life that we’ve all experienced at some point. All of this in a way that makes it a positive experience in a safe, wondrous magical setting reminiscent of childhood wonder and imagination.

My Demo Experience
Upon loading up the demo, I was presented with two options. Starting a new game or entering Creative Mode. Naturally, I loaded into a new game where I needed to choose Sam (our character’s) first Momento. There are several options to choose from, however, I picked a cute looking dinosaur plush to go with.
I was then introduced to the first level. There’s no right or wrong way to play Momento, so I started to place items where I felt they belonged, such as, putting the crayons back in the box, the paintings on the room and more. As I was organizing, I started completing in game puzzles as such.
I continued clicking through the various objects, read the various annotations next to photos, notes and drawings, unlocking momentos and then ensuring I completed as many puzzles as possible before completing the level.
While the demo is only short and sweet, it certainly showcases the game beautifully. From the several rooms you can explore in the game’s story mode to the more imaginative creative mode, you can really get a true idea as to what to expect in the full game.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Momentos. Exploring the story mode of the demo for the first time, I was curious as to what to expect. When playing I found myself feeling reminiscent of my own childhood memories inspired by some of the photos and objects in the rooms. Carefully choosing each momento one by one to see which one I would get and what else it would unlock.
Being able to go back and revisit the game again from the start was wonderful. Even more so when you could choose the different objects and complete the different puzzles in each room.
I’m excited to see more from Momentos when it releases. It’s certainly a game that will be remaining on my radar for when it fully launches in the future. There are still plenty of stories to explore, discover and even rediscover and additional replays too!
