It’s Time To Solve Some Cases!

Growing up, Snoopy, Peanuts and the gang were a familiar face at home. Whether it was via the various comic books, the television show, or due to various themed merchandise that my parents had purchased over the years. So, growing up I was familiar with many of the characters and the adventures they would get up to!

Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club is a wonderful and charming game that is a pleasure to play. As I began to explore and playing through the introductory chapter and began my adventure with Snoopy, I felt this wave of nostalgia rush over me. Early Saturday mornings, sneaking onto the PlayStation 2, playing video games to my heart’s content without a care in the world.

Now I was well and truly off on my first of many investigations with Snoopy, Peanuts and friends. However, what stood out to me straight away was not only the attention to detail with each of the characters, but also they are all fully voiced! Such a lovely surprise!

As you progress through the game, completing cases, Snoopy will unlock a variety of different outfits. With this, they come with their own handy skills that will help you and the gang master even the hardest of investigations. For example, Snoopy’s Pirate outfit will help you dig for clues whereas the Detective outfit, which is the first one you obtain, allows you to follow trails and footprints.

When completing these investigations, you spend your time going back and forth between various locations on the map. Searching for clues, gathering evidence, or uncovering missing objects. The map itself is appropriately sized and flows seamless between different areas. There is a fast travel option where you hop on the bus back to another area of the map, but I’ve enjoyed just running around with Snoopy and the gang.

There are times when it can feel a little tedious running backwards and forwards to and from different locations in the game. However, at the same time, there is something relaxing about just running around without a care in the world.

Now, I can’t forget about the mini-games in Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club. They add a nice, fun change of pace from the main story. While you encounter the likes of the Baseball and Football, you can also play a card game and go soap box racing too. They are easy and straight forward mini-games that switch up the pace of the game and can be replayed multiple times outside the story.

The overall pace of the game is good, and you can easily distinguish as you move from one chapter and into a new one. I’ve enjoyed what I’ve played so far, and it’s been a very wholesome play through too. The story is good fun and there have been no major issues that have hindered my time with the game. You’ll also discover comic strips that you can unlock throughout the game and also read when you come across the newsstands around the world.

The art style is perfect and reminiscent of that seen in the 2015 The Peanuts Movie. Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club is also accompanied by a soundtrack that is upbeat but oddly soothing at the same time.

Navigating the game in general is easy, however it’s important to note that if playing on Steam, you will need a controller, such as an Xbox Controller to play. However, in game, the menus are easy to distinguish and follow, making it easy to know where you are during a case and when looking for information in game.

This is a game that is perfect for anyone, whether you are new to the world of Snoopy, Peanuts and friends or one who grew up with the characters. I could honestly see my younger self sitting down and getting lost in this game for hours, or playing it with my cousins.

Either way, Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club is a wonderful gaming experience and is out right now across multiple platforms both physically and digitally! So get ready and join Snoopy, Peanuts, Charlie Brown, Peppermint Patty and more familiar faces in the game soon!
