I’ve been incredibly excited about this game for so long, and it’s finally here! So, let me introduce you to this gorgeous, cosy puzzle game, Camper Van Make It Home. Find homes for your belongings and yourself in each of the different vans, choose from different ways to decorate your van inside as well as out and embark on this cosy, organisation adventure.

Cosy Adventures in a Camper Van
Let’s start our adventure!
The first location that Camper Van Make It Home takes us to is a lovely, sunny beach area. Our van may be small, but it’s the perfect start! Having decorated our camper in the garage, it was now time to decorate on location!
Getting started is with placing the various objects is easy. As it is, finding homes for each item in the various cupboards, draws and shelves that are available.
There’s just something relaxing about a game that, while primarily a puzzle, also gives you the freedom of knowing there is no right or wrong answer. I found myself placing items in a variety of places that may not have been what you’d consider the norm but working in that moment.
You’ll notice a variety of different of categories along the right-hand side that feature a number of objects. While these six are the most prominent throughout the game, you’ll later see more categories added as you progress. This will offer you not only more ways to decorate your camper, but also finding places to store and display them!
However, Camper Van Make It Home is more than just about placing all the different objects. As I mentioned briefly earlier, you can also customize your vans.
Featuring options that include the seating, dashboard, mirror charm, paint colour, walls and flooring as well as bedding options and cupboard combinations, there are plenty of ways you can customize your van to truly make it your own.
As you progress through the game, you’ll also unlock more options to change and with each, a variety of different colour options too!
Yet, it’s not just about placing objects and customizing your van.
The game, for me, was a welcome addition not only to my collection but gave me a different way to relax after a long and busy day. You move through the game at your own pace, with no time pressure or restraints, and not a single ounce of pressure.
However, if you add the mobile phone to the speaker box or even the record player depending on the level, you’ll soon find yourself listening to a cosy and relaxing soundtrack that makes you feel like you really are away in the camper van.
Even now, I’m still stumbling across a variety of features that I missed first time around. For example, despite being very noticeable, photo mode. In fact, I’ve loved playing around with photo mode and taking some screenshots of not just the camper van and outside space but the scenery around the camping location.
It’s very easy to use, with a number of settings you can tweak to make the perfect photo. Change it from early morning, early evening or night and create some wonderful memories.
Still, I have a couple more things that I want to share about this game!
You’ll notice through your Journey scarp book, that there are small annotations as such, talking about your journey. The journey of discovery and even self-discovery. Not only in finding a way to make your perfect home away from home, but also who you are as you travel through each of the different locations.
Now, I know I haven’t spoken about the cute and adorable little furry friends that you meet in the game, however, that’s one aspect that I wanted to leave as a surprise to anyone planning on playing Camper Van Make It Home!
Final Thoughts
As a game that I’ve been looking forward to for some time, I’ve not been disappointed in my experience or expectations. The game is a truly wonderful cosy gaming experience which has been perfect to relax with on PC and Steam Deck over the last few days.
I have to say, that the game plays wonderfully on Steam Deck. It runs smoothly and controls are easy to pick up. I was worried how the controls would transfer over for playing on the Steam Deck version, but it was something that I didn’t need to fret about at all.
Malapata Studio have made a truly unique experience, integrating a number of different features into a game that takes you through a journey of discovery. With an accompanying soundtrack that I could listen to all day on repeat, and even the smaller details you discover as you play, Camper Van Make It Home is a game I highly recommend. While it is a shorter game, you can go back time and time again to replay, as no two times you play through a level are the same.
So, if you are searching for a lovely wholesome cosy game that doesn’t take too long to play, has gorgeous art style and graphics accompanied by a relaxing soundtrack and plenty more goodies, then Camper Van Make It Home may well be your next gaming discovery!
