Boardwalk Builders is the upcoming relaxing management simulation game Studio Primitiv. Featuring a boardwalk where you can build and grow depending on your customers, change with demand and trends, as well as navigating through tough competition against local rivals.
That’s not all though, you’ll be able to create and manage marketing campaigns, control the weather and economic events, take part in local festivals and even invite some very important people to visit! So why not take a dull and empty boardwalk and turn it into a thriving seaside destination!
Become a Seaside Entrepreneur
From the moment you begin your journey to craft the ultimate boardwalk experience. Now, you don’t need any prior experience as the demo will guide you through the basics from placing your starting boardwalk to building your first stand.
For my play through of the demo, I kicked off with a sunglasses stand. It just seemed like the perfect starting point!
Slowly but surely tourists and locals will begin to visit your boardwalk and spend money. You’ll notice as time progresses, and the people come to visit, that your Boardwalk level will increase. With each level up you have the opportunity to gain a new store type that you can build, receive an upgrade card or another surprise.
As you continue to grow, place more stands and gain even more visitors to the boardwalk, you’ll soon find yourself expanding. With more space, means more opportunity and with more opportunity means you’ll draw more people in to help with sales.
Boardwalk Stands & Stores
Boardwalk Builders has a wide variety of amenities that you can add to your boardwalk. While only a handful are available during the demo, you can see what some of the upcoming ones that will be available at launch.
There are several business types which include those for food & drink, gifting, games and art to name a few of the categories.
Placing businesses is easy and with some, you can place more than one. Although the stand price will go up, you can still continue to grow your boardwalk experience.
Additionally, you can use not only the upgrades but also inspect stands on their own to increase or decrease their pricing as well as looking at some more in-depth details such as popularity, service time and revenue.
Marketing Campaigns
To help draw more visitors to your boardwalk, you can initiate various campaigns. You determine the length of time they run for and whether you want them to run via social media, radio or television. These aim to help increase your base visitor levels.
Let’s Talk User Interface
The player interface for Boardwalk Builders is very easy to navigate and get to know. If you ever find yourself stuck, you’ve got handy help buttons to help remind you.
Combining Businesses
A feature that I felt was interesting in Boardwalk Builders was the way you can combine different businesses into a new combined/bigger building. You can create various combinations of businesses using all the available businesses to create an improved, combined business.
In the image above, I took the Skin Care Stand and Strength Game and combined them to create a Yoga business instead. With improved stats, it turned out to be a good combination!

Boardwalk Builders is part of Clemmy’s Big Summer Showcase, where the game is a part of this year’s showcase. The demo is due to release in the near future after the showcase and will be available on Steam to download and play!

Overall Thoughts
I thoroughly enjoyed playing through the demo of Boardwalk Builders. From the gorgeous 8-bit pixel style, to the incredibly chill and relaxing accompanying soundtrack, when the team described as relaxing they certainly meant it!
For me, the demo showcases exactly what Boardwalk Builders is about and gives you a true taste of the game as well as giving you an idea of what is still to come! Honestly, I’m excited as to what else is in store for the game.
There’s not a single moment where you feel stressed or overwhelmed, and you can even let the game run idle and let it do its own thing while you build up your money.
So whether you are looking to upgrade your boardwalk experience, navigate tricky weather situation or just want to sit and relax while your boardwalk ticks over in the background, this is an overall pleasant and chill game demo to pick up, play and build your Boardwalk empire!
