What’s Next in The Sims 4: Embracing the Season of To Be Continued

So, it’s that time again. The Sims Team has dropped the new roadmap showcasing the upcoming content over the next few months.

At first glance, I was intrigued to learn more about the theme. A Season of To Be Continued. There was an element of curiosity about what this new roadmap would look like. Admittedly, I wasn’t much of a fan of the last roadmap overall, but this one certainly had my attention.

Of course, with any roadmap, there are the usual promotional materials players see that come alongside it. However, this time, The Sims Team seemed to change things up slightly when it came to the finer details.

Embrace What’s Next in The Sims 4 Reveal Video

The thirty-second video teasing what’s to come was more than enough to showcase a mystical and mysterious-sounding time for players!

Even with such a short video, there’s still plenty to unpack from the new roadmap. So let’s have a closer look!

Brand New Kits

Kicking off the new season are two new Kits. The Artist Studio Kit and Storybook Nursery Kit, both of which are launching on 19th September.

To me, these sound like they will be Build-orientated Kits, which will be good. The Artist Studio is one I will probably pick up myself as a lot of my Sims tend to end up painting and having more items to choose from to create an Art Studio will be nice.

As for the Storybook Nursery Kit, I’ll likely wait to see the Kit previews before picking it up. It sounds very fantasy-like and would be a lovely addition to the game. Especially for those who enjoy family gameplay.

Reaper’s Rewards Event

I didn’t mind the first log-in event that The Sims Team held. I am curious to find out if it will be in the same style as what we’ve seen before, or if the team will change it up slightly. Almost like the old Jasmine Holiday events. I guess we will have to wait and see closer to the time.

A Matter of Life and Death

The expansion pack! It has long been teased in varying ways over the last few months and even “leaked” online ahead of the roadmap being released.

Now, this one interests me as there are so many things that this Expansion could bring to the game. Things we’ve seen incorporated into the game before, new experiences and features to explore. There are just so many possibilities for this expansion.

It’s also nice that we know when we will be seeing our first glimpses of the next expansion, as well as the release date. Either way, between now and the first look in a few weeks, I’ll be speculating the kinds of features I’d love to see in the new pack.

There’s More

Of course, the free updates. Who knows whether these are the usual game patches, updates including new content, or maybe the return of the Sims Delivery Express? However, what makes me curious is why several familiar-looking locations from The Sims 4 are featured on the card itself. Do these four locations mean something to the upcoming updates, or is it just a coincidence?

Overall Thoughts

This roadmap for me and how I play The Sims 4 is looking pretty strong. I wasn’t much of a fan of the previous roadmap for a few reasons, but that feeling is different this time around. I’ll likely pick up both the new kits and the expansion pack. Whether or not that is day one or not, remains to be seen at the moment. I’ll wait to see more about each of these in time.

The Reaper’s Rewards event will be interesting, depending on how The Sims team implements it. However, it is, in a way, nice to see some contingency with the in-game events. As for the free updates, I am hopeful that we will see more bug fixes, especially judging by the recent Laundry Lists, but it would also be nice to see some new content added for the Base Game along with maybe a new Sims SDX?

Overall, I’m looking forward to what has already been showcased for the roadmap however, it leaves me wondering that there must be more to come. This roadmap focuses on September to the end of December, but we only know what is coming up to Halloween? Maybe this is all part of the mystery surrounding the roadmap theme, but I guess only time will tell!
