Yes, this includes the likes of spicy poops to name a few.

Apart from becoming a fully-fledged globetrotter causing absolute chaos, you can also customize your Crow’s looks with cute accessories and outfits.

As Unbound Creations says, anything is possible when you’re a crow!

Tutorial Curiosity

The fun and chaos start from the get-go! Upon loading into the game, you can get a feel for the controls and the actions your little crow can do on the main menu.

However, on to the Tutorial.

The tutorial is short and sweet yet covers everything you need to know to play Just Crow Things. From moving and flying around to picking up objects and tools, learning how to take selfies and the different kinds of poops. Yes, poops to do on the “hoomans”. There are several various kinds of poops including your standard poop, unlimited for a period of time poop and spicy poops too.

Now, and most importantly, the tutorial also gives you the backstory as well as Grandma Crow entrusting you with the family heirloom. The family glasses. I won’t lie, they look pretty swag on our little crow friend!

Just as you approach the end of the tutorial level, you are also introduced to the villains of the game. A group of badass crows with an attitude and clearly rulers of the nests!

Let’s Get Levelling!

Just Crow Things has ten exciting levels to play through. Each level is filled with plenty of exploration, quests and chaos to discover.

For each level, you will need to achieve a minimum of one hundred Crowputation points to progress. There are plenty of ways to do this. From searching for different objects, taking part in races, finding objects and Just Crow Things really.

There’s no pressure to fully complete each level to the maximum Crowputation, as you can come back and revisit each level at a later date. You can also pick up any secret collectibles that you may have missed first time around, too.

Each level has its own charm. With unique level names and inspiration too. You may also spot one or two Easter Eggs within levels if you look closely enough.

With that, you’ll find a good variety of chaos to cause as you progress through the game. There’s something about flying around the levels casually, but then swapping and grabbing the nearest leaf blower to chase the residents of the level. Then again, on the flip side, there is something oddly satisfying about going around and pooping on anything and everyone.

Crowstomization!

Why settle for the same look as every other crow on the block when you can create your own crowsome style! From fresh and cool headwear choices to choosing different skin tones, scarf colours and even your croak pitch, there’s plenty of fun to be had making your own unique looks!

You know I’ll be back to find all the various hats too!

Keeping Track

There are a couple of ways you can track quests in the game. Firstly is the one screen check list. This is found on the top left-hand side of your screen. The second is via the quest menu screen that players can access at any time.

We’re Soaring, Flying…

Just Crow Things is everything I hoped it would be and more. The combination between feeling relaxed and chilling, completing quests to the sheer chaos and sometimes panic while completing the various levels is just perfect.

After making my way through the tutorial, I knew this was going to be a fun experience. The controls were nice and easy to pick up. The characters I met throughout the game were interesting and definitely had some funny text lines at times. The way you interact with objects/tools and how you could use them to cause more chaos was great fun too.

Flying around and having the crow poop to cause mischief was funny, and it was interesting to discover the varying ways this featured worked.

The game as a whole has a clear, unique charm to it that made for a fun and chaotic experience that I wouldn’t change at all. Revisiting the levels I had previously played, I found myself discovering little aspects that I hadn’t spotted the first time around. I also found more ways to cause even more chaos, too!

Ultimately, I was distracted by all the shiny objects!

I only ran into two very small graphical issues when playing, however, they had absolutely no impact on my overall experience of the game, and initially I thought they were designed to be like that. Other than that, the game ran smoothly on the Nintendo Switch, both docked and in handheld mode.

The story behind the game came to a lovely close, but I can say, I was more focused on what havoc I could cause at times rather than keeping up with the story.

Overall, this is one of the silliest and certainly the most chaotic game I’ve played in a long time!

Just Crow Things is a game that I recommend to others, especially if you liked Unbound Creation’s Rain on Your Parade and Untitled Goose Game. The game launches on 15th August 2024 on PC, Xbox and Nintendo Switch with a launch on PlayStation planned for a later date!
