Does anyone else feel like June went by in a flash? I certainly did!
June overall was jam-packed full of news and reveals in the gaming universe; to reflect on that, I’m changing up this month’s recap slightly.
Throughout the month, I had a huge focus on checking out demos from the Steam Next Fest. Played more amazing demos than I can count and discovered some real gems! That’s even before I get to the various showcases we’ve seen during this month.
Games I Did Play in June
There were a few games that I have played that aren’t demos this past month. I’ve already talked about some of these on the site, and then there are a few that I’ve played offline.
- Fortnite/LEGO Fortnite
- Moonstone Island
- Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit
- Sunnyside
- Habbo Hotel Origins
- Paper Trail
- Everafter Falls
- Duck Detective The Secret Salami
Truthfully, it’s been a real mix of games and experiences this month. I wanted to try and get back into Final Fantasy VII Rebirth as well, but never got around to it. While that didn’t happen like I planned, I’m hopefully going to do so over the next couple of weeks.
June Showcase Favourites
You can’t deny that the various gaming showcases had a lot to them. There were high points and low points, but what I wanted to do was share some of the games that grabbed my attention.
Infinity Nikki (PS5)
While there was certainly a lot on show during the State of Play, one of my standouts had to be the upcoming Infinity Nikki game! Despite a loose release date, from what has been shown in the trailer and since on social media, this is definitely shaping up to be a game on my to-buy list later this year!
LEGO Horizon Adventures (PS5/Nintendo Switch)
Probably my favourite reveal during the showcases. I love LEGO games, grew up with them back in the day and always just make me smile. However, the fact we are now having LEGO collide with the world of Horizon was not on my bingo card for this year whatsoever! I’m unsure if this will be a PS5 or Nintendo Switch pickup yet, but we wait and see.
Wholesome Direct
I won’t lie, about the Wholesome Direct, I just loved everything shown, it was perfect. Definitely, a lot was shown that I’m really interested in, and I hope I can check out in the future when they are released.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (Nintendo Switch)
One game that certainly wasn’t on my bingo card was the upcoming The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom. Firstly, it’s coming in the same art style as The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening which was released a few years ago, but also you play as Princess Zelda! I mean, how much more exciting can that be?
I guess you could say that’s just four different games, well, three and a showcase as a whole that stood out to me recently. There certainly was plenty more shared that I honestly am excited for and will be following for updates ahead of their respective releases.
What were some of the announcements that stood out to you during the recent gaming showcases?
