With all the hustle and bustle of the festive season, it’s been hard to sit down long enough to write a new post until now. Realistically, this has been a collection of notes that have been building over the last couple of weeks that now resemble something much more legible than before.
Despite this, and all the plans I had for this post, it has ultimately turned into a what I’ve been playing over the last month or so.
So, without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the games I’ve been playing recently.
Disney Dreamlight Valley + Expansion Pass
I recently got back into Disney Dreamlight Valley due to the excitement of the recent update and expansion pass. While I had a lot of fun re-exploring the game and starting the expansion pass content, I slowly drifted away from the game. This was only because I was distracted and hooked in by other games releasing and updating around the same time.
Truthfully, I have so much I need to do in the game at the moment, not to mention taking part in Dreamsnaps Challenges and unlocking more familiar faces. For me, this is also a great game that I can pick up and put down so often that I just continue without any worry as to what I was doing previously. Then it draws me back in, so it’s the only game I play consistently for a while until I’m distracted again.
Palia
I’ve been slowly chipping away at this cosy MMO. Being able to play between both Nintendo Switch and on my laptop has been so handy. I still feel like I’m really early on in the game, but in some ways that’s a positive, as there’s still so much more to discover. I’ve had a couple of issues with some minor glitches, but nothing that majorly impacts my overall experience.
Hopefully I’ll be able to continue progressing through the game and even play alongside some friends soon!
LEGO Fortnite
An unexpected collaboration actually took me by surprise! I love LEGO and the Minecraft-style of building/survival games. Diving into the game for the first time, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Needless to say, several hours later I was building up my village, recruiting more friends to join my adventure. LEGO Fortnite has been a game that I can pick up and play anywhere. Switching between playing on the PlayStation 5 on the sofa or on my Switch before bed! It’s been nice to be able to switch between platforms and pick up exactly where I left off last.
Fortnite
I’ve also ended up returning to Fortnite for the first time in a very long time! This was a bit of a surprise as I’d only ever really played when Fortnite was first launched, so quite some time ago. I don’t play any Battle Royale style games but it’s been somewhat refreshing playing Fortnite. I do tend to gravitate more towards the No Build Mode as I truly can’t be dealing with building while trying to survive in the game currently! Either way, it’s been a nice change of pace where I can just run around and have fun and still complete my Battle Pass!

Rune Factory 3 Special
This is a game and franchise I’ve had a lot of interest in for a while, but never knew where to start. My partner kindly gifted me the limited edition collection for Christmas, and it took me totally by surprise! I’m only a few hours into the game and slowly picking up how everything works. It’s been nice to just sit down and chill with this game the past couple of days. I’m intrigued to see how the game progresses, but so far I’m enjoying what I’ve played!
That’s pretty much everything I’ve been playing recently. I’ve got more games in my backlog such as Fashion Dreamer, Super Mario Bros Wonder, Fae Farm, Final Fantasy XVI and more that I also want to play but just haven’t had the time to do so. Despite this, 2024 is already shaping up to have some great releases that I can’t wait to check out in the New Year, either!
What games have you been playing recently and are looking forward to playing in the New Year? Let me know in the comments!
