It’s a new month, which means new content and this month, I’m taking part in the writing event Blaugust! I’ve previously taken part in the event previously, however, this is the first time I’ll be doing so as Leekscosycorner! I’m nervous and excited.
What Is Blaugust?
Well, it’s a month-long event that has been running for over ten years when it invites bloggers and various other creators to get involved and reignite those creative fires! A chance to get to know and interact with others in the community, and post a variety of different posts during this time.
There are two versions of Blaugust, the hardcore challenge where your mission is to post every day, yes all thirty-one days of the month, or in a more relaxed approach. However, there’s no pressure to create content for every day of the month, and you can post as much as you want. Follow the prompts, or create your own, the choice is yours!

My Blaugust Plans
With this being my first posts for Blaugust 2025, this is more so an introduction as such. I’ve been checking out this year’s prompts to help me get started.
Now, you might be thinking, but Krista, you tend to talk about video games as well as books and music. Don’t worry, I’ll still have a selection of my usual content coming this month, Blaugust content is a fun little bit of bonus content! My aim is to also ensure that this extra content links back into my usual content themes too, as well as giving you a little bit more of an insight into some behind the scenes info too!
Blaugust Week One Prompts
There are five introductory prompts for week one, so let’s take a look:
- What made you decide to do Blaugust this year, and what are your personal goals?

I have decided not to take part in the Community Builder Challenge this year to keep things simple, but I feel that these are some good starting prompts.
The Prompts & The Answers
Starting off strong, why did I decide to return to Blaugust?
Simply putting it, the last time, I was much more shy as a creator and somewhat embarrassed because I was still finding my feet and discovering myself when writing my content. This time, I feel I’ve grown as a writer and have established my style with what I share here.
I had totally forgotten about Blaugust until I stumbled across a very old (and slightly cringe) draft blog post on an old USB stick. I thought, well, I wonder if it’s still going, and I was very happy to see that it was. Not only that, there are some familiar faces, well names, in the Blaugust community still too.
Many of you know that writing and gaming in general are two of my main passions. These both being contributing factors to how Leekscosycorner came to be. I feel that returning to Blaugust this year (and hopefully beyond) will also help me discover more about myself as a creator, help me grow my community, meet more rather cool people through the event and continue to expand my knowledge.
As for starting preparation before the launch of Blaugust, well, it’s currently just gone 10pm as I’m writing this on day one, so I certainly didn’t prepare in any way.
When it comes to my first Blaugust, I believe I heard about it on Twitter in my early days of blogging around 2018/2019 if my memory serves me correctly. As for returning, it just felt like the right thing to do this year!
Plans For The Month
As I mentioned earlier in this post, I’ll still be sharing my usual variety of gaming focused content. Any Blaugust content will be extra, and I’m going to try and do a post like this each week. This while trying to tie the week’s prompts back into things that I love to write about.
I’m looking forward to seeing how this month of content goes. It will certainly be a challenge, but one that is going to be good fun!
